Arne Slot has announced that Alexander Isak will be sidelined for at least ‘two months’ due to a fractured fibula sustained during a match against Tottenham on Saturday.

Isak was injured while scoring in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory in North London. He was taken off the field immediately and had surgery on Monday.

In a press conference before the upcoming match against Wolves in the Premier League, Slot confirmed that the Swedish striker will not return until at least March.

“It’s a long injury, lasting a couple of months,” Slot said.

“It’s a major disappointment for him and for us.”

The Liverpool manager criticized Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, who was responsible for Isak’s injury while trying to block his shot. Slot described the tackle as ‘reckless’ and noted that injuries from such tackles are likely.

“This was a reckless challenge,” he stated.

“I’ve previously discussed the tackle by Xavi Simons, which was completely unintentional. A tackle like that generally doesn’t cause injury.”

“However, with Van de Ven’s tackle, if you make that challenge ten times, there’s a good chance someone will get injured seriously each time.”
