If Marc Guehi decides to look elsewhere, Liverpool may consider a different centre-back about whom Real Madrid is uncertain.
Guehi remains a priority for Liverpool, but that could change if he becomes unavailable.
The Crystal Palace defender is keen on joining Anfield, though a sale could happen before that opportunity arises.
The Reds are likely to target him in the summer, but they are also exploring other options in case he moves sooner.

Cesc Fabregas’ Como team is gaining recognition for nurturing young talent.
Jacobo Ramon, who was signed from Real Madrid earlier this year, is attracting attention across Europe. Both Liverpool and Chelsea are monitoring the 21-year-old centre-back, who has been impressive in Italy.
However, there are complications. Como has him under contract until 2030, but Real Madrid included some important clauses in the deal that could affect any future transfer.
CaughtOffside reported: “The Spanish defender is under contract until 2030, reflecting Como’s high opinion of him. However, specific clauses in his contract mean any transfer isn’t straightforward.
“Real Madrid included an €8 million buy-back option and a 50% sell-on clause in the agreement, ensuring they stay influential in Ramón’s future.”
Madrid recognized his potential and ensured they had a stake in his career.
They might choose to activate the buy-back clause, which would be seen as a bargain in the current market.
Ramon may not be the ideal replacement for Guehi at Liverpool
Supporters might prefer more than just Ramon in lieu of Guehi.
While Ramon has quality, his lack of top-level experience could be a concern.
Meanwhile, Guehi is reportedly closer to a move to Man City, likely coming to Anfield as a competitor soon.
Bringing in another young player for the defense raises its own challenges. Stability and leadership are crucial and should not be overlooked.
Adding Ramon to the squad would be welcomed, but if Liverpool aims to compete for trophies, Guehi appears to be the better option.
