Liverpool has a buy-back option on Jarell Quansah that includes several clauses, with plans to re-sign the defender in 2027.
Quansah transferred to Bayer Leverkusen last summer for about £34 million. The 23-year-old has performed well in the Bundesliga and received an England call-up this month, although he had to pull out due to injury.
Liverpool is considering bringing Quansah back this summer to address defensive depth and meet homegrown requirements.
Ibrahima Konate’s contract ends after this season, and while Jeremy Jacquet is set to join, another center-back is anticipated.
According to German media BILD, Quansah is not likely to return this summer. It would cost £80 million to bring him back now, but that amount would reduce to £65 million in 2027.
In 2027, Virgil van Dijk’s contract will also expire, and he is expected to leave. Liverpool sees Quansah as a possible long-term replacement for the team captain.
