During the recent summer transfer window, Saël Kumbedi (20 years old) left Olympique Lyonnais (OL) to join VfL Wolfsburg on loan. The French club announced the terms of the agreement: The Olympique Lyonnais confirms the paid loan of Saël Kumbedi to VfL Wolfsburg until the end of the season, for a fee of €1 million, with a purchase option set at €6 million. Additionally, there can be up to €2 million in bonuses and a 10% share on any future profit.
As of yesterday, the right-back is officially a Wolfsburg player. The German club could activate the purchase option after he played five league matches as a starter, each lasting at least 45 minutes. This condition was met in his match against Eintracht Frankfurt. Kumbedi has made a promising start in the Bundesliga, featuring in six matches and providing three assists. Consequently, OL will receive a total of €7 million, not including the potential €2 million in bonuses.
