Lucas Paquetá Reflects on His Missed Penalty

It was a tough evening for Brazil, particularly for Lucas Paquetá. The West Ham midfielder, who came off the bench during the 1-1 draw against Tunisia, had a chance to secure a win for Brazil late in the match. Unfortunately, his penalty kick went off target, much to the disappointment of the fans at Pierre-Mauroy stadium. After the game, the 28-year-old reflected on this missed opportunity.

“I’m sad that I couldn’t score and help the Seleção; we probably would have won with that penalty. I’m used to converting penalties at my club, and I’ve been successful, but the pressure of the moment got to me. I’ll get back to work and aim to improve for the next opportunity to help the team. I’m very happy to work with Ancelotti, who has a lot of confidence in me. We communicate a lot, and we’re becoming more consistent and growing as a group,” he shared in the mixed zone.
