Juventus Turin has been on the lookout for a seasoned coach following the dismissal of Igor Tudor this week. The name that has quickly come up is Luciano Spalletti. The 66-year-old has previously managed clubs such as Empoli, Sampdoria, Venice, Udinese, Ancona, AS Roma, Inter Milan, and Napoli. He has been available since June after leaving his position as Italy’s national team coach.
With the prestige of Juventus at stake, Spalletti aims to revitalize the club, which currently sits 7th in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli, and has faced challenges in the Champions League. “If I didn’t believe in the potential of this team, why would I have accepted an eight-month contract? I think I can do a good job here. We need to aim for a Champions League return, and for now, we must do everything to get back on track as other teams are climbing,” he stated during a press conference on Friday. His contract is set to renew automatically if the team qualifies for the Champions League next season.
