His relationship with the club’s management has reportedly soured, not just due to the poor results, but also because of his criticisms of the team’s sports policies. There are hints that he feels isolated within the club. In a press conference on Wednesday, ahead of the Ligue 1 match against Angers on Friday, he voiced his frustrations.

Castro Expresses Frustration

“I prepare to the best of my ability. I am human like everyone else. It’s normal that when I read what’s being said, I am not happy. I think you should call me to ask questions. When you discuss tactical issues, that’s fine. But when you touch on matters relating to my principles as a person, that upsets me. You are touching the individual, and I think that is disrespectful,” the Portuguese coach stated, adding that he likely won’t be dismissed before the winter break.

“You can find anyone in the club; I respect everyone as a person and I respect your work. But when you say I don’t communicate with management, that’s not true because that is also part of my principles. I don’t know why you write that. It’s not true. If you find someone I don’t talk to here or who I don’t answer calls from, I’ll pay for your dinner,” he concluded. This upcoming match against Angers will be crucial for the team’s direction going forward…
