"He should be more empathetic towards me" - Luis de la Fuente responds to Hansi Flick's criticism
The head coach of the Spanish national team, Luis de la Fuente, is surprised by Hansi Flick’s comments.
Coaching a national team differs significantly from managing a club team.
Details: Luis de la Fuente has responded to criticism from Barcelona‘s manager, Hansi Flick.
Flick had earlier accused de la Fuente of risking Barcelona player Lamine Yamal by calling him up for the national team while he was injured. Flick alleged that the Spanish camp provided painkillers and played the 18-year-old despite his back issues.
Initially, de la Fuente claimed he was not aware of Flick’s complaints, but he now expresses surprise at Flick’s remarks:
“I was surprised by Hansi Flick’s comments because he is a national team coach himself. I expected him to have more understanding for other coaches,” de la Fuente stated.
Since taking charge of Spain in 2023, the 64-year-old de la Fuente has managed 33 matches, achieving 28 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses.
Under his guidance, Spain won the Nations League and the 2023/24 European Championship.
Reminder: Yamal will miss the Oviedo match due to injury.
