Luis Enrique Responds to PSG’s Festival Celebrating Ousmane Dembélé’s Comeback

PSG will remember this evening. Playing in Leverkusen, the reigning European champions achieved their biggest win in Champions League history, defeating their opponents 7-2. The Parisian team was in fine form, with six different scorers (Pacho, Doué X2, Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Dembélé on his return, and Vitinha) dominating the match.

The feeling is very positive because we played very well. We had clear chances and deserved the victory,” said Luis Enrique on Canal+ after the final whistle. The Asturian coach noted the red card given to Zabarnyi and the two penalties awarded, while Andrich was also sent off earlier in the match. “It was a bit strange because once the player was sent off, the match changed with ten players each.

Luis Enrique praises his team’s performance

PSG was already dominant at eleven against eleven; it became even more evident at ten against ten. Shortly after the Ukrainian defender’s dismissal, PSG scored three goals in seven minutes to lead 4-1 at halftime. The outcome was already clear. “I think it’s always complicated to play away. You can’t control everything, but we did our job as usual and can be proud of this team.” continued the Parisian coach.

To cap off this memorable evening, Dembélé scored upon his return just three minutes after coming on. “Dembélé scored like many goals last year, assisted by Barcola. It’s nice to see that connection between the players. I’m happy to have players like him and Marquinhos back.” The Brazilian remained on the bench during the match, while PSG took the top spot in the standings.
