As Ligue 1 players and officials frequently make headlines with their criticisms of refereeing, Paris Saint-Germain’s Luis Enrique stands apart by choosing not to engage in such disputes. Following a controversial tackle by Camara on Chevalier in the recent Monaco-PSG match, the PSG manager had valid reasons to comment, yet he refrains. On Friday, he shared his perspective on why he avoids discussing refereeing issues.
“It’s a very interesting topic that I would love to discuss. But I’ve been around in football for a long time and have gained a lot of experience. Long ago, I decided not to speak about it. I would like to express my views, but I prefer to show my players that we need to focus on the things we can control. Refereeing is a more challenging aspect to manage. In the medium and long term, it is more beneficial for me than to talk every week about the referee, whether I like them or not,” he explained ahead of the Ligue 1 match against Metz.
