The Chicago Fire has strengthened their lineup by signing 2024 All-Star Robin Lod on a free-agent deal.
This contract is valid until June 30, 2028, according to the team’s announcement.
Lod, who is 32 years old, joins Chicago after midfielder Brian Gutierrez was transferred to Chivas in Mexico for around $5 million.
During his seven seasons with Minnesota United, Lod scored a record 41 goals along with 28 assists in 185 matches across all competitions. Additionally, he has netted six goals and provided 12 assists in 83 games for the Finland national team.
“We are pleased to have Robin join us in Chicago,” said Fire director of football and head coach Gregg Berhalter. “He is a team player and a proven winner, known for his goal contributions at every club he has played for.”
“As we work on strengthening our squad during the offseason, Robin will help us become more competitive in 2026 and beyond.”
Chicago has also signed Swedish midfielder Anton Saletros in November and South African defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi earlier this month.
