Real Madrid has received some difficult news regarding its captain, Dani Carvajal. The club confirmed on Monday that the player will need to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. This procedure is necessary after a medical examination revealed a ‘loose body’ in his knee, an issue that has been bothering the defender for several months.
Due to the surgery, Carvajal is expected to be off the field for up to 10 weeks. Club sources indicate that he is unlikely to play in any of the remaining matches in 2025.
This setback for Carvajal comes right after Real Madrid secured a 2-1 victory against Barcelona in a dramatic El Clasico match. That win solidified Real Madrid’s position at the top of the LaLiga table, putting them five points ahead of their rivals. However, with crucial games ahead in the season, the captain’s absence will be a major test for the team’s defensive strength.
Carvajal has dealt with injury problems in the past. He was out for several months in late 2024 after suffering injuries to multiple ligaments and a tendon. He returned to action during the Club World Cup in July.
