Malappuram: Malappuram FC has signed Tajikistani forward Kamron Tursunov. The club anticipates that his arrival will significantly strengthen their attack, given his proven track record in the I-League. Tursunov brings considerable experience in Indian football. His speed, finishing ability, and set-piece expertise are expected to benefit the team.
Tursunov first played in India in 2019 and quickly became a fan favorite, winning the I-League title with Mohun Bagan in his debut season. He continued to deliver strong performances for TRAU FC, Rajasthan United, Churchill Brothers, and Gokulam Kerala. In the 2023-24 season, he scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists for Gokulam Kerala. Tursunov also holds the record for the fastest goal in I-League history, scoring in just 9 seconds against Real Kashmir while playing for TRAU FC in 2021.
Tursunov has also played for several Tajikistani teams, including FC Regar TadAZ, FC Istiklol, FK Khujand, and Ravshan Kulob. He also had a stint with Indonesian club Dejan FC. Malappuram FC is assembling a strong squad in preparation for the second season of the Super League Kerala.
