The South African club has missed out on their desired transfer target.
They offered a significant sum, but it wasn’t enough.
Details: Mamelodi Sundowns made a bid of €1.5 million (about $9.5 million or 30 million rand) for Mateusinho, who is on loan at Sport Recife in Brazil’s Serie A but is owned by Portuguese team Santa Clara, according to Brazilian source NE45.
Reports indicate that the offer was rejected because Recife holds an option to buy the player if he performs well during his loan, which they value more than Sundowns’ bid.
The 27-year-old has played in eight matches for Recife, scoring one goal and assisting two. Transfermarkt lists his value at €1.5 million.
Reminder: A surprising return! Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Tebogo Langerman is back in professional football, signing with a new club.
