Miguel Cardoso is playing down Mamelodi Sundowns’ impressive nine-game unbeaten run in the PSL, which puts them in a strong position to retain their Betway Premiership title.
Last night, Sundowns defeated Chippa United 4-1 at Loftus Versveld, reclaiming the top spot in the PSL with a two-point lead over Orlando Pirates.
“Winning nine consecutive games is very important, but it’s not enough. We need to stay focused and keep winning because if we dwell on our past successes, we won’t achieve our goals,” Cardoso said.
“For the next match, we aim to head to Durban and perform like we have been, without worrying about how many goals or wins we have. Thinking too much about that can lead to complacency.
“We must stay focused on what’s ahead. If we want to be champions, we need to continue winning our upcoming matches, as there isn’t much room for dropped points.
“Our priority is the next game, followed by two more matches before the Champions League, and then three additional games later in the month.
“Right now, our attention is on the Durban match, then the Champions League, and after that, returning to the league without losing many points. We definitely need to add more victories to our current tally.”
