Man City player Tijani Reijnders highlighted the need to maintain pressure on Arsenal in the Premier League title race after their victory over West Ham United on Saturday.
City’s 3-0 win at home moved them ahead of Arsenal in the league standings, though Arsenal has a chance to reclaim the top spot with a win against Everton today.
Reijnders scored his first goal at the Etihad Stadium, complementing an Erling Haaland brace, and extending their winning streak to seven matches across competitions.
“It feels great to finally score at home,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve waited a long time for this. I’m also happy we won the match.”
The Dutch midfielder worked well with Haaland in a tightly packed West Ham area, where Haaland provided an excellent assist for Reijnders’ goal.
“He received the ball from [Rayan] Cherki and thought quickly to pass it to me, allowing me to take the shot.”
Discussing the competition with Arsenal, Reijnders stated: “We must keep our confidence. Winning every game is the goal, and with the right mindset, we can achieve it. Our quality shows how much we’ve improved as a team. We need to keep pushing.”
“We will keep the pressure on Arsenal. They were ahead of us, and we need to continue that pressure.”
“Everyone needs to contribute. We must demonstrate our quality in each game and play fearlessly. We did well today.”
