Manchester United aims to acquire two midfielders this summer, potentially spending over £70 million.

Revamping the midfield is a top priority as the team prepares for a likely return to European competitions.

Casemiro’s contract will end this summer, confirming his departure. Manuel Ugarte is also expected to leave Old Trafford.

The club is interested in several midfield options, including Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.

While these players would come at a high cost, journalist Laurie Whitwell has mentioned that signing two ‘big midfielders’ is feasible.

He noted that the availability of Champions League football could influence incoming transfers but believes there is room to secure two high-profile players.

In a discussion on The Talk of the Devils podcast, he stated, “I think there’s a good chance for big signings. Financial conditions are currently tight, but Champions League participation will provide some extra flexibility, even though they can’t just spend freely.”

“There is potential for a couple of solid midfielders, around £70 million each.”
