Manchester United heads into 2026 with optimism after a challenging 2025.

The team finished 15th and lost in the UEFA Europa League final, marking a tough end to the 2024/25 season.

However, the 2025/26 season shows improvement, with the club in sixth place in the Premier League, just three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

This comes despite a disappointing December, which included two wins, three draws, and one defeat.

On a positive note, the Women’s team went without a league loss until November.

Nevertheless, they have secured only one win in their last four league matches, a 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

A recent 1-0 win against Juventus in the Champions League group stage should boost their confidence after three wins in their last eight games.

Furthermore, the club has made an announcement that will please supporters regarding key players.

According to The Guardian’s Women’s Football writer Tom Garry on X, United has extended the contracts of four female players.

Ella Toone, Elisabeth Terland, Lisa Naalsund, and Gabby George will remain with the club until 2027.

This news will excite fans, as these players have made a combined 35 appearances this season in the Women’s Super League.

Their next match is against Arsenal away on January 10th, followed by another away game against Aston Villa.
