Sheffield Wednesday is currently facing serious challenges.

The Owls sit at the bottom of the Championship table with a total of minus nine points after having 18 points deducted across 20 games.

The club initially had 12 points taken away when it entered administration, followed by an additional six points for breaking regulations.

Now, Sheffield Wednesday is searching for new owners and is in urgent need of funds, while Manchester United seeks to capitalize on the situation.

According to the Daily Mail, United has made a bid of £450,000 for 17-year-old left-back Yisa Alao.

Alao has caught the attention of Premier League scouts, with Liverpool also eyeing a potential offer, as United aims to secure the player before any rival interest escalates.

Currently, Alao is in the club’s academy and has yet to sign a professional contract, though he has made several appearances for the senior team.

While United’s Harry Amass is the main left-back for Sheffield Wednesday, Yisa Alao has come off the bench in three senior matches.

Given that Alao has debuted and lacks a professional contract, along with Sheffield Wednesday’s difficult negotiating position, Manchester United hopes their offer will be accepted to bring in the promising defender.

However, Sheffield Wednesday is still aiming to secure a contract for Yisa Alao, and their current stance on United’s offer is not clear.

For United, Alao represents yet another young talent they are looking to add to their academy, aiming to build a strong team for the future while also seeing financial potential in such investments.

Under the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), selling an academy player generates straight profit, helping to balance the club’s finances.

For example, United’s summer sale of Alejandro Garnacho significantly supported the club, with the £40 million gained being entirely profit.

It remains uncertain whether Sheffield Wednesday will accept United’s £450,000 offer or wait to see what Liverpool proposes.
