Manchester City Fighting to Qualify for Champions League, Pep Guardiola Talks About This Challenge!

This season, Manchester City experienced a decline in performance in the English Premier League. This is what made them have to be thrown out of the competition to win the English Premier League title.

Instead of defending their Premier League title, Manchester City are struggling to secure a ticket to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They are currently sitting in fifth place, which is actually a place to qualify for the Europa League.

Fighting to qualify for the Champions League, Pep Guardiola admitted, was something he had never experienced before as Manchester City coach.

“This is the first time, together with my first season here nine years ago that we have to fight to qualify for the Champions League,” said Pep Guardiola from the club’s official website, Tuesday (1/4).

For this reason, Pep wants his players to be able to achieve victory at home in the remaining nine matches in the Premier League.

“We still have nine games left and we know what we have to do. Five games at home, four games away, we have to win at home and we will try,” said the Spanish coach.

If they are able to perform well until the end of the season, it is not impossible that Manchester City will be in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season.

“I would like to say yes, but I don’t know because the previous seasons we did it and every season we are able to do it,” said Guardiola.

However, Pep is also not too sure that The Citizens can continue to win until the end of the season. “This season we are not consistent so I don’t know,” said Pep Guardiola.

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest are Manchester City’s two rivals for Champions League qualification. They also have to compete with Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion who are in sixth and seventh positions.
