Manchester United is looking to sign a left-back this summer as they prepare for a possible return to European football.

Currently, Michael Carrick’s team is in third place in the Premier League after a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa last weekend, bringing them closer to Champions League qualification.

United has won seven out of nine matches under the interim coach and is in strong form as they approach the end of the season.

The club is starting to plan for the summer transfer window. The main focus is to sign at least one new midfielder, with expectations for two new arrivals at Old Trafford.

They are interested in players with Premier League experience, with Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, Sandro Tonali, and Joao Gomes being linked recently.

Additionally, United aims to secure a left-back. Luke Shaw has been performing well and is likely to receive another call-up to the England squad this month. However, there are concerns about his fitness.

Despite not having European commitments this season, Shaw has started all 30 league matches, marking only the third time in 12 seasons that he has done so.

While there are no plans to sell Shaw, the team is looking for competition and backup. It has been reported that there are doubts about whether his body can handle the demands of Champions League football.
