Michael Carrick’s Manchester United will play against Leeds United on Monday, April 13, as they aim for a place in the Champions League for the 2026/27 season.

Currently, the team is well-placed to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

After being eliminated from all competitions, they sit third in the league with 55 points from 31 games and have seven matches remaining.

If they return to the Champions League, making smart summer signings will be crucial for their success.

The club is also focused on finding a long-term replacement for Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed in January.

Carrick has taken temporary charge since then, but the midfield needs strengthening regardless of his future with the club.

Casemiro has confirmed his decision to leave, and Kobbie Mainoo needs a reliable partner in the midfield.

Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United has been marked as a potential option.

In other news, Adam Wharton, who has been linked with United, is expected to depart Crystal Palace at the end of the season.

Instead of sticking to players with Premier League experience, Manchester United may look to Serie A.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they are in a strong position to sign Khephren Thuram from Juventus.

The French midfielder was already on United’s radar, and new reports confirm that the club is making inquiries regarding his availability.

Although Liverpool is mentioned in this context, they are simply monitoring the situation with Thuram.

So far this season, Thuram has played 38 matches across all competitions, either in a box-to-box role or as a holding midfielder.

Bringing in a suitable partner for Mainoo in midfield is essential, especially considering Casemiro’s exit and Manuel Ugarte’s underperformance.

With Wharton and Tonali likely to be expensive, signing former AS Monaco player Thuram could be a more affordable choice.
