Moreover, a victory against Arsenal or revenge on Lyon or Wolfsburg after their earlier defeat could have brought in £653,250 (€750,000) in prize money for winning the tournament.
As a result, United missed out on at least £479,050 (€550,000), with the maximum possible earning being £653,250 (€750,000) for their debut campaign.
On a positive note, their strong performance in the group stages secured approximately £1,189,000 (€1,365,000) for advancing as far as they did.
The women’s team is now focused on their last three matches of the Women’s Super League season, aiming for a third-place finish to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
Currently, they sit in fourth place, tied on points with Arsenal, who have two games in hand. The challenge ahead is tough, as the team needs to stay sharp and avoid mistakes in the closing matches.
