Manchester United faced a challenging weekend due to injuries, despite having few players in the Carrington treatment room previously.
Kobbie Mainoo missed the trip to Villa Park because of a calf injury, and further issues arose during the match.
Club captain Bruno Fernandes experienced a setback in the first half against Aston Villa, showing discomfort in his right leg and being substituted at halftime.
Reports indicate that he will be sidelined for approximately a month. Additionally, another injury concern has emerged for the midfield.
Ella Toone had to leave early in Manchester United Women’s League Cup Quarter-Final against Tottenham Hotspur, replaced by Lisa Naalsund in the 62nd minute.
Manchester United confirmed she is dealing with a hamstring problem.
Coach Marc Skinner mentioned: “There’s a little sensitivity in the hamstring area, so it was the right decision to come off.”
He added: “She will take some time to rest and spend time with her family, after which we will evaluate her condition.”
The injury is a setback for Skinner’s team, as Toone leads the squad with eight assists in 22 games this season and has also scored three goals.
Her teammates will be looking for her swift recovery, especially since she has three weeks off during the Christmas period.
Toone’s target return is set for the match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Women’s Super League on January 10th.
