Footem.in Manchester United has come under scrutiny following a surprising exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of fourth-division club, Grimsby Town.

This defeat coincided with news about their transfer target, Carlos Baleba. This situation adds pressure on Ruben Amorim, who is working to regain the trust of the team and supporters at the start of the season.

Brighton’s coach, Fabian Hurzeler, has expressed his complete confidence that Carlos Baleba will remain with the club until the summer transfer window closes.

He even stated his belief goes beyond a hundred percent, signaling that Brighton has no intention of selling the young Cameroonian midfielder anytime soon.

Manchester United has reportedly reached out to Brighton through intermediaries to explore the possibility of acquiring Baleba. The 20-year-old player was signed from Lille in August 2023 for about Rp 591 billion, plus add-ons.

He also has a contract that runs for another three years. Since joining the Premier League, he has displayed his quality, becoming a key player for Brighton in midfield.

Baleba started the first two matches of the Premier League season before coming on as a substitute in Brighton’s significant 6-0 victory over Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

His crucial role makes Brighton reluctant to part with him, at least until next summer, unless an irresistible offer comes in.

Crisis at Old Trafford

Meanwhile, the situation at Manchester United is increasingly concerning. The loss to Grimsby Town adds to their poor record, having only earned one point from their first two Premier League matches.

In the game against Grimsby, Manchester United fell behind by two goals, but Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire equalized. However, in the penalty shootout, which ended 12-11, Amorim’s team was unable to clinch victory.

Ruben Amorim expressed his disappointment with the results, offering an apology to the supporters and stating that the players had voiced their frustrations on the field.

He noted that while the team had shown progress since preseason, defeats like this make it clear that fundamental issues need to be addressed.

Some players currently on loan or facing uncertain futures at Old Trafford have begun to question whether they can outlast the manager.

Nonetheless, internal club sources indicate there are no immediate plans for managerial changes, as management continues to support Amorim.

With the mounting pressure, the need for additional midfield support becomes evident, but pursuing Baleba seems unlikely, given Brighton’s unwillingness to let their young star go.
