Manchester United is working to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.
Ruben Amorim is interested in adding Semenyo to his squad, and United is among the top contenders for the 25-year-old. He is seen as a great fit because of his athleticism and versatility.
The winger has netted eight goals in the Premier League this season and contributed three assists. He has a release clause of £65 million that is available for activation early next month.
Manchester City also wants Semenyo, while Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest over a longer period.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Manchester clubs are leading the race. Liverpool’s primary target for January is a centre-back, but their plans may shift after Alexander Isak’s injury against Spurs. Tottenham is ready to offer a lucrative package to Semenyo but is considered a less likely option.
Romano mentioned that Manchester United is clear about its strategy: “Ruben Amorim stated that the club will not pursue short-term signings. He prefers players who can contribute long-term, not just for a few months.”
“Manchester United is making every effort to finalize the deal for Antoine Semenyo. It’s a competitive situation between Man United and Man City, and discussions have already begun between Semenyo’s representatives and both clubs.”
“Semenyo will make a decision soon, and I anticipate that an agreement will be reached in this January transfer window.”
