Manchester United is gaining an advantage in their bid for Carlos Baleba as Bayern Munich is not actively pursuing the Brighton midfielder at this time.
Bayern had been considered a potential competitor for Baleba, who has become one of Europe’s top midfield prospects at the Amex Stadium.
Although the German club had shown interest, they are not currently working on a transfer. Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern believes Baleba prefers a move to Manchester United.
Manchester United continues to have internal discussions regarding the midfield overhaul. Ruben Amorim views Baleba as an ‘ideal solution,’ alongside Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
The club aims to add at least two new midfielders in the next transfer windows, especially with uncertainty surrounding Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo’s futures. Additionally, Casemiro’s contract expires in the summer, and he will be turning 34 in February.
“I can assure you that internal talks regarding Carlos Baleba at Manchester United remain active, as he is still seen as an ideal option by Ruben Amorim and others at the club,” Romano stated.
“Baleba, along with Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson, is viewed as a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s midfield strategy.”
“There were speculations in December about Bayern Munich being in discussions for Carlos Baleba. However, as of now, they are not pursuing a deal for him. They believe the player wants to stay in England.”
“It seems he was keen on joining Manchester United last summer, and Bayern is aware of this. They have not initiated negotiations for Baleba at this point.”
