This season has been challenging for Manchester United.
They faced early struggles, but a positive October raised some hopes among supporters.
This period included a Manager of the Month award for Ruben Amorim.
New signing Bryan Mbeumo also received the Player of the Month award for October.
However, since then, United has secured only three wins in the following 13 matches.
This poor performance led to Ruben Amorim’s dismissal after a 1-1 draw against Leeds United earlier this month.
Amorim’s job was already in jeopardy after last season, where the team finished 15th in the Premier League and lost in the UEFA Europa League final.
United’s loss to Grimsby Town in the League Cup marked a rough start to this season. Recently, they were knocked out of the FA Cup.
Under caretaker manager Darren Fletcher, United lost 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion, officially marking this as a trophy-less season for the club, the eighth in the last 13 seasons.
The Telegraph has reported that United is planning a mid-season friendly in Saudi Arabia.
The club is facing financial challenges due to its shortest schedule since the 1914/15 season, with only 40 games played.
This situation is expected to lead to a £53.5 million decrease in match day revenue.
After a postseason tour in Asia last season that raised around £8 million, they are now considering a friendly match in mid-season.
Saudi Arabia appears to be the likely location, as the club has been in discussions with Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia.
This news may draw criticism, especially since fewer cup games can potentially benefit the team’s league performance.
