Manchester United will face Leeds on Sunday, following a disappointing 1–1 draw with Wolves at Old Trafford.

This match highlighted ongoing issues with their attack, despite having key players available.

With only 33 goals scored in the Premier League this season, United’s struggle to finish has raised concerns as they aim for a European spot.

In light of the draw, changes are happening behind the scenes, with one of United’s wide players set to leave after agreeing to personal terms with a Turkish club.

This situation indicates the crowded nature of United’s attacking lineup and the club’s changing strategy regarding squad management.

Sam Mather, a winger from Manchester United’s academy, is close to a January transfer to Kayserispor after agreeing on personal terms, as reported by Manchester World.

The 21-year-old is eager to secure a permanent move, having missed a chance in the summer despite interest from several clubs.

A transfer to Kayserispor was nearly finalized on the last day of the Turkish window, but negotiations failed due to time issues.

He also discussed a potential move to Al Wahda FC last year, which fell through over disagreements on the sell-on clause.

With personal terms with Kayserispor settled, discussions now need to occur between the two clubs for the transfer to be completed.

Mather, who grew up in Salford and is a lifelong United fan, developed through the club’s academy and was part of the FA Youth Cup-winning team in 2022.

He signed his first professional contract in September 2021 and has frequently trained with the first team.

Last season, Mather was loaned to Rochdale, where he scored two goals in 10 matches, and extended his United contract in summer 2024.

However, he has faced limited chances at the senior level.

Currently, Mather is on loan at Tranmere Rovers, but with the opportunity in Turkey available, he seems poised to advance his career away from Manchester United.
