Marc Cucurella has been an impressive player at Chelsea since Enzo Maresca became manager.
The Spanish defender has secured the left-back position, making it challenging for new signing Jorrel Hato to join the team.
His excellent performance has led to a new contract with the club, showcasing his importance within the squad.
Chelsea is also reportedly discussing a contract extension for Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian midfielder has quickly become a vital part of the starting lineup and has received praise from Cucurella.

At Brighton, Cucurella and Caicedo first played together, and the defender quickly saw Caicedo’s talent.
In an interview with CFC Unlocked, Cucurella recalled recognizing Caicedo’s skills from their initial training session.
“I remember when I arrived at Brighton, he was on loan in Belgium and didn’t play much. We had the same English teacher,” he shared.
“During our lessons, the teacher mentioned a player on loan from Brighton who was very good.
“When he returned in January, we trained together, and he performed well in his first game.”
Cucurella added, “He was young, but you could see he had unique skills—his tackling and quick thinking, and how he always found the open man. I really appreciate that style.”
Moises Caicedo poised to make an impact at Chelsea again
Caicedo has been absent from the last three Premier League matches, and Chelsea has struggled, failing to win their last two games before facing Everton.
There could be a silver lining to his absence. He has been dealing with fitness issues due to the team’s reliance on him.
His return is timely, as Enzo Fernandez may need a rest after a sustained run in the starting lineup.
The World Cup winner has shown signs of fatigue, so Caicedo’s comeback should help ease that workload.
