Marcus Rashford’s time at Barcelona is gaining momentum, both on the field and off, as he works to revitalize his career away from Manchester United.

Since joining FC Barcelona, Rashford has been a regular in both domestic and European matches, contributing with goals, assists, and an energetic playing style from various attacking positions.

While his contributions aren’t always evident in statistics, his effort, movement, and ability to create space have made him a valuable part of the team’s rotation.

Barcelona’s agreement with Rashford includes a purchase option that can be utilized if certain sporting and financial criteria are fulfilled.

However, previous challenges with registering players under La Liga’s financial regulations mean that any permanent arrangement would need careful planning.

Unlike earlier attempts to secure high-profile forwards permanently, the club now has more options due to player departures and wage adjustments, allowing for a potential long-term role for Rashford.

Off the field, Rashford has embraced Barcelona’s values, particularly in community outreach, which the club prioritizes.

Rashford has partnered with the Barcelona Foundation and takes part in various ongoing social initiatives.

This involvement was evident when he visited Escola Vedruna in Barcelona’s Raval district, a school that serves children from 34 different nationalities, and the Centre Comunitari Submarí, where the Foundation has had a long-standing presence.

After these visits, Rashford discussed his charitable work and his initial experiences at Barcelona with SPORT.

“I started most of my charity work when I was 18 or 19, wanting to expand the initiatives my mother was involved in. She helped the homeless during Christmas by giving food and clothes, so we aimed to grow that effort beyond Manchester.”

“From age 18, I decided to really engage with this area. We tried to reach more people across the UK and worked with various organizations to help those in need.”

“Yes, we also collaborate on school meal initiatives. I was one of those kids who needed support with school lunches, so I want to ensure children have proper nutrition, especially during tougher times like Christmas. I started this program during COVID to ease the burden on struggling families.”

“I’m also working on a project to make books accessible for kids, as I didn’t start reading until later in my teens. We aim to provide books to as many children as possible, making them affordable.”

“I encourage my teammates to participate in these projects, but it has to come from them. It’s something I’ve always seen as normal due to my upbringing. I feel I can help, and I’m motivated to do so.”

“I’m settling in well at the club and the city. I felt welcomed from the start. My focus is on helping the team win trophies; last season was great, but my aim is to repeat that success. Everything has been fantastic with the staff and teammates; I have no complaints.”

“Of course, I want to stay at Barça. That’s my ultimate goal, but my focus is on winning. Barcelona is a prestigious club designed to succeed.”

“There is pressure here, but it’s the kind I thrive on as a player. I prefer being in a situation with high expectations; it keeps me motivated. I believe this is the right environment for my growth as a footballer. I’m committed to giving my best for the team. We’ll see what happens next summer.”
