Marcus Rashford has revived his form away from Manchester United, but a permanent transfer to Barcelona faces complications.

Rashford joined F.C. Barcelona on loan this summer as his chances at Manchester United diminished.

While he has done well with Barcelona, he is unlikely to make it straightforward for them to sign him permanently.

Marcus Rashford declines pay cut for Barcelona next season

Reports from El Nacional suggest that Marcus Rashford’s future with Barcelona is uncertain for several reasons.

Firstly, Rashford has lost his starting position as wingers Lamine Yamal and Raphinha have returned from injuries.

Even though he has been performing well, Rashford is not guaranteed a starting role, leading Barcelona to hesitate on offering him a starter’s salary.

Rashford accepted a 25% pay cut to join Barcelona, with a gross salary of £12.1 million. However, he will not agree to another pay cut if Barcelona decides to make his stay permanent.

This situation has made Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta cautious about paying Manchester United the £30.3 million transfer fee for Rashford.

Rashford’s demands may complicate future options

Rashford garnered positive attention from Barcelona fans when he took a pay cut to revive his career with the club.

However, if he reverts to his initial salary demands, Barcelona is unlikely to sign him, forcing him to return to Manchester United.

Manchester United has struggled to find other teams interested in Rashford, and coach Ruben Amorim has indicated that Rashford is not part of his future plans.

Such demands may hinder United’s ability to offload Rashford next summer, potentially leaving the club with a financial burden.
