Enzo Maresca has confirmed his strong commitment to Chelsea but did not explain why he referred to last week as the “worst 48 hours” of his time at the club.

The Italian coach made a vague statement during the post-match conference after Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

“The players’ eagerness to learn has been impressive, which is why I commend them. Despite facing several issues, they have performed well after a tough week,” Maresca noted.

“The last 48 hours have been difficult since joining the club because we felt a lack of support.”

When asked for clarification, he mentioned, “These were the worst 48 hours because it felt like the team and I didn’t have support.”

Maresca did not specify anyone within the club, stating he was referring to people “in general.” When questioned if it was directed at fans or media, he responded: “I appreciate the fans and feel positive about them.”

At a press conference on Monday, prior to Chelsea’s League Cup quarter-final against Cardiff City, the topic was raised again, but Maresca chose not to elaborate further.

“I’ve already addressed that,” he said. “I have nothing else to add. Let’s focus on Cardiff tomorrow.”

“I mentioned that I appreciate Chelsea’s supporters—they deserve the best.”

He reinforced his message when further inquiries about his earlier comments came up.

“I can communicate in multiple languages, including Italian, Spanish, French, and English. I believe I’ve made my point clear,” he added.

“When I want to express something, I do so clearly. It’s over. I’ve said what I needed to after the game, and that’s that.”
