Enzo Maresca expressed frustration after what he called his “worst 48 hours” as Chelsea manager, despite a win over Everton on Saturday.

Cole Palmer scored his first Premier League goal in three months, giving Chelsea the lead at Stamford Bridge, while Malo Gusto added a second just before halftime.

This win ended a four-match winless streak for Chelsea, but Maresca was far from cheerful during his post-match press conference.

The manager highlighted that there are “so many problems” but acknowledged his players for performing well amid a challenging week.

“The last 48 hours have been the toughest since I joined the club because many people didn’t support us,” he stated.

When prompted for more details, Maresca clarified his comments, saying that the lack of support came from “people in general,” excluding the supporters. “I love the fans and we appreciate their support,” he added.

Despite his concerns, Maresca was pleased with the crucial victory, which temporarily positioned Chelsea back in the top four before Aston Villa’s match on Sunday.

“This was a very important win. Everton were in good form recently, so it was crucial to win today. We deserved the victory, and the players’ effort was fantastic.”
