Lisandro Martinez had a goal disallowed during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Burnley.
Manchester United’s first match under interim head coach Darren Fletcher started poorly, with Burnley taking the lead due to an own goal from Ayden Heaven.
Benjamin Sesko scored twice in the second half, but United had to settle for a draw as Jaidon Anthony equalized late in the game.
United showed good attacking intent, with two attempts cleared off the line. Martinez thought he scored in the first half, but referee Stuart Attwell disallowed the goal.

Martinez thought he scored his first goal of the season from a corner, building on United’s strong performance from set pieces this season.
The referee ruled that Martinez fouled Kyle Walker during the buildup, leading to the disallowed goal.
Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg discussed the incident, stating, “Manchester United believed they had equalized against Burnley, but the referee’s whistle interrupted the celebrations. Lisandro Martinez held Kyle Walker and pushed him down before scoring.”
“This was a soft call since many incidents go unpunished in the penalty area. You could argue that other fouls occurred in the same play,” he added.
“However, once the referee makes a decision, VAR cannot intervene unless it’s a clear error.”
Darren Fletcher’s debut as head coach
Fletcher found some positives in his first game, with United controlling possession and creating more opportunities than Burnley.
However, key moments let them down. Burnley managed to clear two shots off the line, and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka made six saves.
Substitute Shea Lacey nearly scored a winner but saw his shot hit the crossbar.
Fletcher’s team showed promise but faced challenges at Turf Moor.
