Paris Saint-Germain suffered their second defeat of the season across all competitions. Following their loss at the Vélodrome in Ligue 1 against Marseille, PSG faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League at home and fell short. They were dominated in the first half by a fired-up Bayern side, exemplified by Luis Diaz, unable to find their footing at Parc des Princes.
Speaking to Canal+, captain Marquinhos acknowledged the superiority of the opponent when both teams were at even strength. He admitted to being involved in Bayern’s second goal and mentioned that he, along with many teammates, was not at full fitness.
“Yes, it’s always tough to lose at home. It’s disappointing. We need to impose ourselves and play better. We faced a well-organized team, particularly in terms of physicality. They were more impactful than us, especially in high recoveries. We struggled to execute our game. Many players, including myself, are not at 100%,” Marquinhos stated.
“There are lessons to take from this match; the team still has the ambition to defeat all our opponents. We must perform better. They were superior, and in the second half, we were better, but it was a different context with the red card,” he concluded. However, he couldn’t provide specific updates on injured players Achraf Hakimi and Ousmane Dembélé. The Moroccan defender, severely affected, was seen using crutches with his left foot in a protective boot.
