Marquinhos Rallies to Support Zabarnyi and Chevalier in Their Time of Need

This summer, PSG brought in just two new players, along with third goalkeeper Renato Marin. Lucas Chevalier joined to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, who moved to Manchester City, while Illia Zabarnyi arrived to strengthen the central defense and eventually take over from Marquinhos when the captain steps back. However, after several months of competition, it is clear that both the former Lille player and the ex-Bournemouth defender have not impressed many. Chevalier had a tough night against Tottenham, and Zabarnyi has made several mistakes since the season began. Marquinhos, speaking on RMC, suggests there’s no need for concern just yet.

Yes, I find it reassuring (what I see in training, editor’s note). Sometimes, what you see in training is different from what happens in a match. In training, you can see much more of what they can bring; we see it every day. I am truly reassured by their qualities, especially with their mentality to keep working hard and always strive to give their best. Even during tough times, we as players must come in the next day and keep putting in the effort to get through difficulties,” said the captain, who has also faced challenges at PSG before becoming a key figure.
