Since December 15, 2025, Manchester United has been without Noussair Mazraoui, who is on international duty.

He is currently competing with Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations, where they are close to reaching the final.

Morocco, one of the tournament favorites, topped their group and faced Tanzania in the Round of 16.

In the Quarter-Finals, Mazraoui went up against his Manchester United teammate, Bryan Mbeumo, for a spot in the Semi-Finals, scheduled against either Algeria or Nigeria on January 14, 2026.

Morocco won 2-0, but their path was marred by an injury in the first half.

In the 24th minute, Junior Tchamadeu of Cameroon suffered what has been labeled a “horror injury” after a tackle with Mazraoui.

As they contested for the ball, Mazraoui fell on Tchamadeu’s knee, causing immediate distress and tears from the defender.

The medical team quickly called for a stretcher, and the 22-year-old was carried off the pitch, replaced by Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe.

This injury was a setback for both Tchamadeu and the Cameroon team, and shortly after, Brahim Diaz scored for Morocco.

With Cameroon struggling to recover, Ismael Saibari added a second goal in the 74th minute, sealing the match.

As a result, Bryan Mbeumo will return to Old Trafford just in time for the Manchester Derby on January 17.
