Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid with the hope of following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo. After settling in, the French forward is now in top form. In a recent 4-0 victory over Valencia, he scored two goals, reaching a noteworthy milestone that aligns him with Ronaldo.

After converting a penalty kick at Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe scored in eight consecutive league matches. According to statistician MisterChip, he is now only the second player in Real Madrid history to achieve this, joining the ranks of Cristiano Ronaldo.

This marks a significant moment for Mbappe, who has been outstanding this season with 18 goals in 14 matches across all competitions. He currently leads the league with 13 goals, six ahead of the second-place player, Julian Alvarez (7 goals).

Mbappe’s two goals were crucial in helping Real Madrid secure a win, bringing their points total to 30 and extending their lead over second-place Villarreal (23 points). Meanwhile, Barcelona (22 points) will face Elche on Sunday and could narrow the gap to five points behind Los Blancos.

Mbappe on the Ronaldo comparisons

After winning the European Golden Boot in his first season with Real Madrid, netting 31 goals in 34 LaLiga games, comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo became standard. However, Mbappe recognizes the challenge in trying to match such an iconic career.

“Everyone knows that Cristiano is the reference in Madrid, the number one. I’ve been here for a year and a half, and he was here for nine years. I can’t compare myself to what he did; my path is different,” he told Diario AS.

I want to carve my own path, but being mentioned alongside Cristiano is already a source of pride. My focus is on helping the team and winning as many titles as I can,” Mbappe added.
