Mbappe reportedly makes €32M at Real Madrid: How much is Yamal expected to make at Barcelona with his new deal?

According to multiple reports, Lamine Yamal and Barcelona have reached an agreement to extend his contract, and his new salary would rival Kylian Mbappé’s at Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal are set to mark a new age for Real Madrid and Barcelona’s rivalry, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. While Mbappe is consolidated as one of the top players in the world, having won two World Cups and multiple titles with PSG, Yamal is starting to write his story.

However, with five titles under his belt, the Spanish young star is already among some of the top earners thanks to a reported new contract with Barcelona. We compare their current deals.

At PSG, according to L’Equipe, Mbappe earned 72 million euros per season at PSG. However, Spanish journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon has reported that Mbappe’s contract with Real Madrid is worth 32 million euros gross per year. It’s worth noting that details of the contracts are not made publicly available.

On the other hand, Fabrizio Romano and Spanish major outlets confirmed that Yamal and Barcelona reached an agreement on a new contract for the 17-year-old star. The deal is reportedly set to run through at least 2030 (it could also be until 2031). While the club has yet to make the deal official, details of the reported salary have emerged.

According to Spanish journalist Sergio Valentin, from Libertad Digital, Lamine Yamal will earn 40 million euros gross per season. He explains that Yamal will earn 15 million euros net per season (plus a 25 million euro signing bonus, split into five million per season) compared to the 1.6 million euros net he currently earns. The contract also includes an option to review and potentially increase the salary in two years, and 10% of Yamal’s image rights will go to Barcelona.

Lamine Yamal’s importance to Barcelona

Following Barcelona’s successful season, in which they won the domestic treble of La Liga, the Supercopa, and the Copa del Rey, Yamal has definitely become one of the most important players for the Blaugranas despite his short age (he will turn 18 in July).

Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta made it clear that Yamal’s salary should reflect his importance on the field. “He is a special case, outside the norm, and needs to be treated accordingly,” he told TV3 channel last week.

While Barcelona have enjoyed a strong season under Hansi Flick’s leadership, they are still chasing European glory, having been eliminated in the Champions League semifinals. On the other hand, Real Madrid ended their season without a trophy and having lost all the Clasicos to Barcelona.

Despite that, Mbappe ended as La Liga’s top scorer and won the European Golden Boot (with 31 goals). So, it’s safe to say that the French star and the Spanish youngster will be leading their respective teams in the upcoming years.
