Kylian Mbappe is emerging as a key figure in global soccer as the era of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo nears its end. His recent performance for Real Madrid highlighted his potential, particularly a hat-trick during a 5-0 victory over Kairat in the UEFA Champions League.
This achievement marks Mbappe’s third career Champions League hat-trick on the road, with his previous two scored for Paris Saint-Germain: a 5-0 win against Club Brugge in 2019 and a 4-1 win against Barcelona in 2021.
In comparison, Messi and Ronaldo each have two Champions League away hat-tricks. Messi achieved this with Barcelona during 4-0 wins over Viktoria Plzen in 2011 and APOEL in 2014. Ronaldo’s hat-tricks came while playing for Real Madrid, first in a 4-1 victory over Ajax and later in a 6-1 win against Galatasaray in 2012.
With this latest feat, Mbappe joins Ronaldo Nazario, Karim Benzema, and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to score a Champions League hat-trick away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
