Memphis Depay has received an injury update just ahead of the international break, raising doubts about his upcoming availability for Netherlands matches.
The timing is not ideal, coming right before important pre-World Cup friendlies where fitness is crucial.
This puts both his club and the national team in a position where careful management is necessary.

Memphis Depay injury update raises concern before Netherlands call-up
Corinthians confirmed the injury after Memphis Depay had tests following their match against Flamengo.
“In the match against Flamengo for the Brazilian Championship, forward Memphis Depay underwent an MRI scan on Monday (23). The exam showed a strain in the anterior muscle of his right thigh.”
“Despite the injury, the athlete was called up by the Netherlands National Team to begin treatment with the medical staff of the Royal Netherlands Football Association,” the club stated.
This update creates uncertainty, especially due to the nature of muscle injuries and their recovery times.
It also implies that the Netherlands are taking direct control of his rehabilitation process.
Memphis Depay still set to join Netherlands despite injury setback
Despite his injury, Memphis Depay is still expected to join the Netherlands squad during the international window.
“Memphis was already selected for the friendlies against Norway and Ecuador during this FIFA international window, and he will continue his trip to the European country,” the statement added.
This decision keeps him involved, even if his role might be limited based on his recovery. It also highlights the importance of squad continuity ahead of major tournaments.
For now, the focus is on how quickly he can regain full fitness without risking further issues.
