Messi Injury Update: Doubtful for Inter Miami vs Philadelphia Union MLS 2025 Clash

As the international break ends, Inter Miami begins to prepare for their 2025 MLS match week six match against Philadelphia Union. With the match fast approaching, concerns have arisen among fans after their main star, Lionel Messi , appeared out of shape during the latest training session.

Messi had previously missed Argentina’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers with a minor injury sustained against Atlanta United. The injury was later identified as a left adductor strain, which kept him out in Miami. However, concerns were raised again during Monday’s open training session at Chase Stadium.

In a training session attended by media and fans, Messi was seen taking part in the early part of the team training. However, he then did a separate training session until the end. More worryingly, a medical staff member was seen applying ice to his left adductor area, raising major questions about his fitness.

Neither Messi nor head coach Javier Mascherano have commented on the matter, but there will likely be questions about Messi’s condition in the coming days.

Messi’s availability for Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Union remains uncertain, adding to a growing list of concerns over his fitness in recent weeks.

Messi has been battling fitness issues since the start of the 2025 MLS season. Although he played in all of the preseason games and appeared in the first three regular-season games including the CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Sporting Kansas City and the MLS opener against New York City FC, injuries have become a serious problem.

The Argentine star missed three consecutive games due to muscle fatigue, brought on by a busy early-season schedule. He finally returned in the second leg against Cavalier SC and played the full game against Atlanta United.

Now, a muscle injury has hampered Messi again, this time on international duty. With a busy schedule ahead, Inter Miami also face Los Angeles FC in the first leg of the Champions Cup quarterfinals on Thursday. This increases the possibility that Messi will be rested against Philadelphia Union in order to be in top condition for the crucial match.

Will Messi recover in time to play for Inter Miami? Fans will be hoping the superstar can return to the pitch in top condition soon.
