Mexico’s preparation for upcoming friendlies in the United States took an unexpected turn, as reported by TUDN. Journalist Gibrán Araige revealed that thieves broke into a team vehicle in Oakland and stole a trunk filled with training equipment. This incident occurred on the night of September 1 and also impacted members of the press traveling with the team.

Araige reported that the robbers gained access to a van used by the national team and took an entire trunk filled with essential gear for practice. While the specific items were not detailed, they are considered crucial for Javier Aguirre’s team in their daily activities. In a separate situation, reporters from Claro Sports also had their car window shattered, although nothing valuable was stolen.

This incident has raised concerns among the Mexican delegation, particularly since Oakland’s downtown area, where the team is based, has a reputation for crime. Local residents often caution visitors, and this recent event has highlighted those warnings.

Mexico is set to play against Japan on Saturday, September 6, followed by a match against South Korea on Tuesday, September 9. The theft is likely to complicate training logistics, as some equipment will need to be urgently replaced. Despite this setback, Aguirre and his team plan to continue preparations as scheduled, keeping the squad focused for the upcoming matches.
