“The worst decision”: Micah Richards recalls contract story with Man City
Micah Richards, who spent ten years at Manchester City, recently shared a significant story about a contract opportunity he declined from the club.
In an interview with the BBC, Richards revealed that Manchester City once offered him a new contract worth £100,000 a week. However, he decided to turn it down.
Details: “Manchester City offered me £100,000 a week for five years. I refused because I was second choice behind Zabaleta. It’s the worst decision I’ve ever made. Why do you think I work on every TV channel now?” he stated.
After leaving City, he joined Aston Villa, where his earnings were significantly lower. Following Villa’s relegation from the Premier League, his salary was cut in half. Ultimately, instead of the initial £100,000, he was earning only £25,000 a week.
Once a regular starter for City, Richards found himself on the bench more often from 2012 onward.
Note: Both Manchester City and Real Madrid have shown interest in Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise, who is 23 years old.
