Michael Carrick praised his Manchester United team after their surprising victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils recovered from an own goal by Lisandro Martinez in the first half to win 3-2.

Bryan Mbeumo took advantage of a mistake from Martin Zubimendi to equalise, followed by Patrick Dorgu’s impressive goal that gave the visitors the lead.

Mikel Merino brought hope back for the Gunners in the 84th minute, but Matheus Cunha quickly responded with a brilliant goal, sealing the win for United.

Carrick has led United to wins against both Manchester City and Arsenal in his first two matches as interim head coach, lifting the team to fourth place in the Premier League.

Michael Carrick ‘massively proud’ as Man Utd shock Arsenal

“Yeah, massively proud,” he told Sky Sports. “This game was different from last week – two very different matches. We knew they would put us under pressure in various ways.

“We may not have created as many chances as we did last week, but there were times when we looked really dangerous. To come here and score three goals the way we did, coming from behind and showing resilience, was a huge achievement for us.

“The players put in a lot of effort today. It wasn’t as straightforward as last week. Last week, we had the momentum, but today we had to work hard. It was a massive effort, and I’m really proud of them.”
