2026 World Cup Qualifiers : Kenya can count on Michael Olunga to save its honour
Kenya is set to play its final matches in the qualifying rounds for the 2026 World Cup. Although the team has already been eliminated from contention, they aim to restore their pride. Captain Michael Olunga is back, providing a boost after a three-week break from play.
Olunga was sidelined due to an injury sustained during a match on September 13, which caused him to miss the next game.
He will be crucial for the team’s upcoming matches against Burundi on October 9 and Côte d’Ivoire on October 14, under coach Benni McCarthy.
Côte d’Ivoire currently tops Group F with 20 points, just ahead of Gabon. To secure direct qualification, they need to win their last two matches against Seychelles and Kenya.
