The future of the iconic stadium is becoming clearer.
Concerns about the state of football facilities in Italy have been raised even by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin. However, there is hope for progress soon.
Details: Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala announced that an agreement has been made between the city and the Milan clubs regarding the transfer of land around the San Siro stadium to the clubs. The final decision now lies with the city council.
Quote: “If everything goes well, we plan to submit a resolution to the city administration on Wednesday for the sale of San Siro, as we have reached an agreement with the clubs. The stadium must be ready by 2031; otherwise, Milan will not be considered a host for the 2032 European Championship if San Siro remains unchanged.
I want to be clear; I will present the resolution to the council and support its approval, and then the city council will make the final decision. This will happen by the end of the month,” Sala stated in a live interview on Rtl 102.5.
For the record: San Siro was previously denied the opportunity to host the 2027 Champions League final due to its poor condition.
