Major League Soccer (MLS) has established multiyear broadcasting deals with Coupang Play and SPOTV to show Los Angeles FC matches in South Korea, Reuters reported. This comes after LAFC signed South Korea captain Son Heung-min, drawing considerable attention both locally and internationally.
“Son Heung-min’s arrival at LAFC marks a significant cultural and sporting achievement—not just for MLS, but for global football,” said Seth Bacon, MLS executive vice president of media, to Reuters. The partnerships are designed to help Korean fans follow Son’s career and engage with the league as it expands.
The agreements support MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, which continues to be the global streaming platform for all matches. While financial details weren’t shared, MLS highlighted that these partnerships are part of its strategy for international growth and increasing its presence in key markets.
SPOTV already collaborates with MLS by airing Sunday Night Soccer in Southeast Asia, and this expanded partnership will now provide LAFC coverage directly in South Korea. Son, 33, transferred to LAFC in August for a reported record fee of $26.5 million after more than ten years with Tottenham Hotspur, making him one of the league’s most prominent signings.
