MLS Salary Update 2025: Comparing Messi’s Earnings at Inter Miami with Ronaldo’s at Al Nassr

The MLS Players Association (MPA) has published its updated 2025 salary guide, prompting interest in how Lionel Messi’s earnings at Inter Miami compare to those of his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, at Al Nassr.

Since joining in 2023, Messi has ranked first in MLS salaries. The latest MPA report reveals that Messi’s guaranteed compensation is $20,446,667, significantly higher than Son Heung-Min, who is second with $11,152,852.

These amounts only reflect player salary, marketing bonuses, and agent commissions, excluding additional income from club partnerships or performance bonuses.

In contrast, Ronaldo’s earnings in Saudi Arabia are far greater. He reportedly earns $232,059,000 annually, as per Sky Sports, following his contract extension with Al Nassr through 2027, making him the highest-paid player in soccer history.

Along with his substantial salary, Ronaldo owns a 15% stake in Al Nassr, and his earnings could reach $278,486,400 if he fulfills certain performance bonuses in his contract.

CR7 reaches billionaire status

Ronaldo’s financial growth since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2022 is noteworthy. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index reports that he has become the first soccer player to officially reach billionaire status.

His total wealth, estimated at $1.4 billion, accounts for professional earnings from teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, as well as investments and endorsements.

In comparison, Messi has earned over $600 million in pre-tax salary throughout his career, including time with Barcelona and Inter Miami.
